HeartSAFE Certification

September 9, 2018

Our Accessories and Components (A&C) business in Connecticut (CT) recently gained a HeartSAFE Certification.

A&C in East Windsor, CT recently became certified by the Connecticut Department of Public Health as one of only 12 companies in the state to gain the HeartSAFE certification.
HeartSAFE is a certification scheme run by the Connecticut Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS), in collaboration with the American Heart Association, that aims to help CT’s municipalities and workplaces improve the chances of survival to anyone suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
To gain the certification, a business needs to have a minimum of 10% of their total workforce trained and certified in CPR and Automated External Defibrilator (AED) (over 20% of A&C employees are), have an AED in an accessible area within a three-minute round trip of the further work area (A&C have three!), a written Emergency Action Plan and, provide health promotion and educational activities.
Mike Howarth, VP Operations for Aero & Military said, “The HeartSAFE program is an excellent program and shows commitment to our employees’ health. The fact that such a large proportion of our workforce takes part in the First Responder training offered shows that safety is in our culture. To be one of only 12 companies in the state to be certified shows that we are leading the way.”
Congratulations to A&C East Windsor on the certification!
