Passionate About Giving Back

July 5, 2019

Our People are passionate about giving back and raising money for charity. From volunteering in Jerusalem to relay runs in New Jersey to upcycling and selling old furniture our employees find unique and creative ways to give back. Take a look at some of their inspiring stories below.

Carmelo Perrone, a member of our Product Quality Department in Torino took part in the Tor des Géants, in September 2018, a 330 kilometre race across the Aosta Valley in Northern Italy. Carmelo completed the race in 118 hours and 55 minutes! Well done Carmelo!

In December 2018, Employees across our locations in Aberdeen grouped together to spread some Christmas spirt by collecting Christmas presents for Instant Neighbour’s Giving Tree. Instant Neighbour provides support to some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the communities of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Their Giving Tree Campaign distributes Christmas presents to young people across the North East of Scotland who would not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas. We hope they enjoyed their presents and brought a smile to their faces at Christmas!

Employees at our Accessories and Components facility in Duncan, South Carolina helped the homeless stay warm last winter by donating scarfs, hats, gloves, socks and blankets to their community. In total, they collected 41 hats, 32 pairs of socks, 31 blankets, 18 pairs of gloves, 7 scarfs and hat sets and 4 oversized scarves! Well done!

Our employees in Farmington were busy over the Christmas period helping a local club with their annual kid’s program. Volunteer employees went shopping with the children for school clothes worth $100 each. They have also been collecting new and used coats for the children, which with the help of the Grinch, they handed out. Great work!

The Shanahan Engineering Team at Tees REP Project Site held a Christmas jumper day and charity drive in December 2018 to raise money for a collection of non-perishable food to be delivered to local homeless shelters and food banks. Overall, they raised an impressive total of £1,720!

Congratulations to Christine Cairns our Learning, Development and Competency Manager at Light Turbines Aberdeen who has raised an impressive £7,000 and counting for @FriendsofAnchor by upcycling and selling old Furniture. Christine creates beautiful hand painted and decoupage artworks as ‘Chic by Christine Cairns‘ and sells them on her Facebook page with all the proceeds being donated to the charity.

Our very own Aleksandra Kajfasz, Administration Specialist at EthosEnergy Wroclaw, travelled to Jerusalem last year as an opportunity to broaden her horizons and volunteered at the Home of Peace for orphaned children. What a great experience!

A team of runners from EthosEnergy completed the gruelling Ragnar Run a series of long distance overnight relay races at Wawayanda Lake in New Jersey. The team ran a total of 16.1 miles each with team EthosEnergy finishing in a fantastic 39th place out of 157 with a time of 24 hours, 13 minutes and 25 seconds! Congratulations!

Three of our employees from Lubliniec, Poland spent their Easter Monday taking part in a charity race called Run With Eggs. Instead of enjoying a traditional Easter meal or eating lots of chocolate eggs, Damian Kowalik (Export Sales Specialist), Michal Kowalczyk (Senior Customer Service Coordinator) and Marcin Gajowski (Senior Customer Service Coordinator) took on a 7km run. The race involved scrambling through the forests of Lubliniec, picking up two eggs, then successfully making it to the finish line with the eggs unbroken. Thankfully the team didn’t crack under the pressure! Well done team Lubliniec, it looks like you had an egg-cellent Easter Monday!

Richard Moorhouse, QHSE Manager at our Worcester facility took part in the demanding ‘4Ps Challenge’ to raise money for the UK mental health charity, @MindCharity / @Mindforbettermentalhealth. Richard and his team travelled from Inverness in the north of Scotland to Scafell Pike in north west England using four physical disciplines – Paddle, Pedal, Plunge and Peak! Congratulations to Richard and his team!
