EthosEnergy is an industry leader in bringing advanced technologies to turbine repairs.
We developed rotor welding in 1978, and further advanced our technologies by developing the Submerged-Arc Welding process which EthosEnergy has been using for over 35 years. Over time, EthosEnergy has welded on more than 5,000 rotors and has weld-restored more than 750 turbine wheels, many using 12-Chrome weld filler material. Both Tig and Sub-Arc welding technology is available in our repair shops and EthosEnergy can Sub-Arc weld rotors up to 40 tons in weight and up to 900oF in stage operating temperature. The shops are also equipped to perform vertical-hanging stress relief using thermal blankets during and after weld repairs.
EthosEnergy has welded on rotors to repair issues caused by events such as stress corrosion cracking, steam erosion, foreign object damage, and shafts shearing off due to unit crashes, etc. Any welding project is reviewed by one of our in-house welding engineers to determine the material and welding procedure best suited to each individual rotor. After most rotor-welding repairs it is recommended customers put their rotor through an operating speed balance which EthosEnergy has in-house.
