EthosEnergy Light Turbines has the capability to support the Centaur 40 range or engines from the legacy CS3000 to the latest 4700 DLN and low BTU units.
Being of the same basic frame size as the later generation Taurus units the facility has a shared final build area in the shop with two hydraulically elevated build pits and a dedicated disassembly platform.
Sub assembly is split within the shop between the power rotor and the static assemblies in a ‘Production Flow’ arrangement that gives a great overview of project progression through the shop.
The Centaur exchange fleet is optimized by building 4700 engines as a standard product and down rating these to 4500 to meet the specific product required by the client.
The Centaur 40 engine is now an aged product and as such has a diverse number of models which demand full parts support. We have the capability to replace the aging turbine discs with the very latest Inconel 718 assemblies and upgrade the entire engine to the latest OEM Service Bulletin specification.
Centaur 40 Upgrades
The Centaur product is a mature product line and whilst modifications are not frequent they are still occasionally released. EthosEnergy Light Turbines react swiftly to these modifications.
As Solar evolved the C40 into the C50 variant (known at the time as the Centaur ‘H’) an upgraded PT became available with a new disc, heavier blades and vibration dampers deployed between each blade. EthosEnergy Light Turbines has developed all the required parts to perform this upgrade for clients and can offer this option should they desire to review the benefits.
EthosEnergy is a registered customer with Solar Turbines Inc. and receive regular notifications of all Technical Service Bulletins and Product Information Notes relevant to owners of these turbines.
Centaur 50 Upgrades
There are many variants and upgrades in the Centaur 50 engines and EthosEnergy Light Turbines has kept pace with all of the major items such as:
Compressor Rotor balance piston configuration
Bearing pad design, bearing housing oil flow changes
#2 and #3 bearing oil seal material design change
Upgraded SoloNox combustor liner design to the latest super low emissions variant
Upgraded 1st stage nozzle guide vane design, latest materials and casting technology
Additionally, through customer demand our Advanced Parts Development Department (APD) team developed and produced an upgrade / conversion option to allow a customer to convert a standard T60 engine to a full SoloNox engine, this coupled with our controls upgrades capability allows plant changes to be made to fully comply with new emissions regulations if and when necessary.
